Nigeria has fewer than 4 doctors per 10,000 people, and many lack access to modern training in Artificial Intelligence (AI) for health. This gap prevents health workers from using AI tools that can improve diagnostics, patient monitoring, and data management. This project will train 500 Nigerian doctors and nurses in practical AI skills. With this knowledge, they can apply AI tools in hospitals and clinics, strengthening healthcare delivery for thousands of patients.
Nigeria faces a severe shortage of trained medical staff, and many hospitals still rely on outdated methods for patient care. Doctors and nurses often lack knowledge of AI-based health tools such as digital diagnostics, data systems, and predictive models. Without these skills, hospitals lose opportunities to improve efficiency, detect illnesses earlier, and reduce pressure on overstretched staff. Patients in rural and urban areas suffer from preventable delays and errors in care.
This project will organize structured AI training workshops in Nigeria for 500 doctors and nurses. Sessions will focus on practical applications such as AI for medical imaging, patient record management, and diagnostic support. Each participant will gain hands-on experience with AI tools and resources designed for low-resource settings. By providing access to computers, software, and trainers, the project gives health workers the skills they need to apply AI in everyday clinical practice.
Training doctors and nurses in AI skills will strengthen healthcare delivery in Nigeria.Participants will return to their hospitals and clinics equipped to use AI tools for diagnostics, patient monitoring, & medical record systems. This knowledge will improve efficiency, reduce delays, and expand access to better care. As trained health professionals share their skills with colleagues, the project will create lasting impact, reaching thousands of patients & strengthening Nigeria's health system.
