This project will help 30 men, women and children struggling with mental health issues like depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder get the psicological, psiquiatric and physical assistance they need in order to gain the knowledge and tools regarding their condition and function in their day to day lives, having a more positive impact in their community as well as in their personal and professional lives. We offer yoga, kickboxing, nutrition plans, meditation and workshops for anyone in need.
Access to phsycological and psyquiatric services are considered a luxury in Mexico. Due to the poverty and poor education in this country only one in five people that have mental health illnesses are able to get the help they need or even know they need it. It is practically impossible to cover the medical expenses of treatment for the average citizen. The lack of treatment results mostly in an increase of violence, substance abuse, unemployement, homelessness and ultimately suicide.
We hope to provide the information required in order to identify the mental health issue, and the tools specified to each patients personal needs so that he or she can tackle the problem, ending in an overall positive result for the people surrounding them and ultimately our whole community. We also hope to expand our data base throughout the whole state of Sinaloa and provide help to anyone who needs it, regardless of their location, income and/or spending possibilities.
This project will help end the stigma related to people that suffer mental health issues and hopefully increase the understanding and tolerance of these issues in our society. We also aim to provide emotional education for children in schools at an early age, lowering the number of suicides in our state and our country by teaching children to identify and deal with negative emotions or circumstances. Sadly, the suicide rate has increased for children as young as 11 years old in the last year.
