Today is World Refugee Day

By Joshua Governale | Public Relations and Development

“All of us need to show humanity and start a long-overdue conversation on what we can do to help our fellow human beings… no matter where we come from; we can all use some help and kindness.”

Joshua Governale, Spokesperson at Jiyan Foundation for Human Rights US

Jiyan Foundation’s mobile team in Erbil providing medical support to IDPs in Harsham Camp.

Today is World Refugee Day, a day when we consider our own humanity and the circumstances faced by millions of people around the globe. In the years that have followed war and violence, millions of people are living in uncertain circumstances. Crowded in camps, struggling to make a living in a foreign land, these individuals are the most vulnerable among us.

At Jiyan Foundation we strive to provide free-of-charge mental health and support services to these vulnerable people so that they may find opportunity and relief. Through our mobile teams, our branches in the Nineveh plains, Baghdad, Duhok, Sulaymaniyah, and Erbil provide psychological and medical support services in ten Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) and Refugee camps.

These camps house more than 60,000 people who may otherwise have no access to mental health or medical services. More than half of those who receive our services are currently refugees or IDPs.

All Jiyan Foundation’s clients based on target groups (2021 + 2022)

Our psychotherapy, medical treatment and support services are vital to the people who rely on them. On this World Refugee Day, please consider giving your gift to support our programs for refugees and displaced people living in Iraq, Kurdistan-Iraq and Syria.

Don't wait; give your gift today and provide essential relief to IDPs and Refugees in Syria.
