Project Report | Jun 19, 2023
We cant help everyone but we can all help someone

By Jessica Parra | Fundraising

Coromoto 2020 is a non-profit organization created by a group of committed people that had the need to response to the current food crisis faced by the most vulnerable people in our city (Caracas), due to the Covid-19 Pandemic; the transport and supply difficulties and the stopped income in that moment.

Our purpose is to strengthen the most vulnerable Venezuelan families in their food needs and instill values; transmit hope and generate a deep commitment to social work within our volunteers.

Up to now, we have presence in: 6 cities in Venezuela (Caracas, Barquisimeto, Carora, Maracaibo, Valera) and in the city of Miami in the USA (that began in August, 2022). In this sense, we already have work teams in each place.

On October, 2022 we helped in the landslide of Las Tejerías delivering 6,600 water bottles of 1.5 L each, 500 food kits, 20 clothes boxes and 300 bread packages.

To date we have distributed 479,800 kg of food, acquired 200+ volunteers, and have delivered 104,812 food kits (that include 6 products from our basic basket: flour, rice, sugar, beans, sardines or tuna and pasta. Also, it’s included pamphlets with informative material of Christian values). Likewise, we have served many more people through the delivery of donations to many soup kitchens, homes and nursing homes. With all this we have directly benefited 524,060 people.

We have already started training workshops in the communities of Mariches (41 beneficiaries), El Hatillo City Hall (40 employees) and Las Vicarías: El Nazareno (La Vega), Santa Ana (Casalta III), Santa Carmen Salles (La Morán neighborhood) and Nuestra Señora del Carmen (La Vega), where 7 community leader facilitators were trained. In alliance with Pro Superación (a non-profit civil association created to strengthen the Venezuelan family structure through the training of its members) and Redcon (entrepreneurship training capsules for popular sectors of Caracas).

Our goals for 2023 are:

1)     Deliver 22,000 food kits =132,000 kg of food.

2)     Continue with the training plan “Docentes Líderes de Carayaca”, in which we seek to train teachers in good practices in the classroom and socio-emotional tools in alliance with Andrés Bello Catholic University (UCAB). This project began on January, 2023.

3)     Training workshops for 3,200 students.

4)     Participation of 300 volunteers.

Our organization is not simply about finding food for those in need.

We believe that human beings, despite all the adversities we have faced (i.e. Covid19 Pandemic), continue to have the deepest freedom, which is the freedom to love and support. We count on your kindness. We know that, both in Venezuela and in any part of the world, there are good people in all socioeconomic situations. If you also believe in the strength of love, we welcome you to this project.

MAY LOVE BE MORE POWERFUL THAN HUNGER!
