Mark's Visit to Cambodia

Mark was in Cambodia last week. During that time he met with all of the FSP participants. The current status of the program is one of maintenance. We have fragile individuals and families who would be utterly destitute without our support, but we are not taking on new participants, except in an exceptionally challenging circumstance..

Most of the participants in our program live in the greater Phnom Penh area, but for those who do not live locally, we pay for a tuk-tuk ride into the city. We feel that it is extremely important that we meet with each participant at least  once per year, and preferably more frequently. It is an opportunity to catch up on any changes in life circumstances as well as to verify the physical and financial condition of each participant.  It allows us to look objectively at their hardship and to understand what is working and what may be needed. Your support provides food, housing, education, access to medical support .

You, our kind donors continue to enable fragile individuals and families impacted by extreme poverty to live a life of quite, but  impoverished dignity. While this is a sad, but depressing truth, we provide a basic lifestyle that enables  dignity, rather than subjecting  people to a life on the street.

Your kind support helps a grandmother care for an orphaned young adult man with severe developmental disability, who at first glance seems to be an ordinary person, but who in reality requires constant adult supervision.  You kindness  also supports orphaned children, whose mother died from HIV to stay with loving family members, but who without our support, could not afford to keep them. The husband, blind from birth makes clay pots to support the family but without our support, could not afford to keep these orphaned children.

Each one of the fragile individuals that we support  would be homeless without your support.

We are deeply grateful to you for your kind and generous support!
