The "5000 Packages for Ukraine" project, initiated by The Krakow Food Bank, aims to provide essential food supplies to the Ukrainian population living in conflict zones, helping them endure the most difficult moments of the ongoing war. With the approaching winter season, the number of people in need is increasing, and our project is working to address this growing demand.
Polish and Ukrainian humanitarian organizations are actively involved in the realization of this project. Together with The Krakow Food Bank, they are preparing and delivering food packages to areas where the need is greatest.
Employees from various companies based in Krakow, including Google, HCLTech, Splunk, International Paper, and Shell, are volunteering their time to help pack the food. The core of each package consists of non-perishable food items, with additional essential products such as underwear, basic medications, and hygiene supplies. Each package weighs between 12-15 kg.
Due to the limited financial response to our project so far, most of the contents of the packages come from donations provided by companies or public fundraising efforts. We remain hopeful that financial donations will increase, which will allow us to send more packages to Ukraine. To date, we have managed to deliver around 1,000 packages, totaling nearly 15 tons of aid valued at over $40,000.
We are deeply grateful to all donors for their generous support of the Ukrainian people. We cannot stand by and watch their suffering in such difficult circumstances, and we are committed to continuing our efforts to assist those in need.
