Dear Supporters,
We’re thrilled to share an extraordinary moment captured in the heart of the Colombian Amazon—a majestic jaguar, caught on camera by Katherine Beccera, one of our scholarship-supported women scientists!

Thanks to your generous support, Katherine was able to conduct critical field research at our Amazon Rainforest Field Station, contributing to the development of a local conservation plan for the near-threatened Colombian Jaguar (Panthera onca). This iconic species, while powerful and elusive, faces increasing threats from habitat loss, poaching, and human-wildlife conflict.
But Katherine’s work didn’t stop with data collection. As part of her research, she also led conservation education initiatives in surrounding villages, building local awareness and empowering communities to take an active role in protecting jaguars and their rainforest habitat.
Your donations made this possible. By supporting our Women Scientist Scholarship Program, you are helping us create space for brilliant Colombian women to lead conservation efforts in some of the world’s most important and threatened ecosystems.
What’s Next?
We’re excited to announce that in the coming months, we will be welcoming three new women researchers to continue this vital work at the Amazon field station. With your continued support, these women will follow in Katherine’s footsteps—advancing scientific knowledge, engaging local communities, and fighting to protect endangered wildlife.
Thank you for believing in the power of women scientists and grassroots conservation. Together, we’re creating a future where both biodiversity and opportunity can thrive.
With gratitude,
The Women for Conservation Team
