Did you know that 42% of U.S. households can't afford basic living essentials? It's a startling reality, and at Good360, we're determined to change it. In honor of our 40th Anniversary, we're aiming to raise $40,000 which will enable us to distribute $2 million worth of donated essential goods like diapers, winter coats, shoes, mattresses, hygiene products, and more to those in need through our network of nonprofit partners, while also reducing waste in our environment.
Its estimated that 42% of U.S. households are unable to afford basic necessities. While government assistance programs cover some costs of living, there remains a significant gap in affordability for even basic household expenses. At the same time, a staggering $800 billion of goods are returned each year, approximately 25% of which are disposed of, equating to billions of pounds and billions of dollars of products being sent to landfills. Plus, an additional $160 billion of surplus products.
Forty years ago, Good360 identified an opportunity to address the aforementioned problem by creating a system that enables the organization to "rescue" the billions of dollars of surplus or returned products, diverting them from landfills, and strategically connecting them to the 42% of households in need, as well as communities impacted by disasters, through their network of thousands of nonprofit partners.
This project will benefit more than 20,000 people, helping them gain access to important essential goods while also benefiting the planet by diverting more than $2 million dollars of products from landfills.
