Dear Supporters,
As soaring temperatures hit Attica this summer, our Mobile Support Units remained in constant motion, ensuring the vulnerable families in our network were not left to navigate the extreme heat alone.
Through our Family Support Program, our team conducts weekly home visits, which form the absolute core of our outreach. Every week, our social workers step directly into the living environments of the families we serve to assess their needs, deliver essential items, provide vital psychosocial counseling, and follow up on pending requests.
During the sweltering summer months, the daily realities for these households shift dramatically. For families already facing extreme poverty and inadequate housing, the heatwave brings entirely different, urgent requests, from securing hydration and cooling provisions to managing heat-induced health risks. Furthermore, with schools closed, we expanded our focus to include empowerment activities and creative engagement for the children, bringing moments of joy, growth, and relief straight to their neighborhoods as you will see in the photos above!
