In addition to our residential program for up to twenty young children, Angel House has two outreach programs that have a big impact on impoverished families in the local community and one of them is our educational assistance program supporting fifty elementary school students.
This is a very successful program that provides these children with school uniforms, bags and school supplies, as well as paying for any school fees during the year. It was so good to see all these excited children attending school on the first day of classes this month. Education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and gives these students the opportunity of a better life. We hope that they will do well with all the support of Angel House.
After this month the principal sponsor for our residential program will no longer be able to financially support us and so your donations through GlobalGiving are vital for us to continue providing care and protection for vulnerable young children here in Mindanao. We are so grateful for your support.
Finally, you may be aware that we experienced a very severe earthquake recently and although it was a scary time for everyone, we are happy to say that we are all safe and that there was no damage to the Angel House buildings.
