As in other places around the world, we are struggling through the fifth wave of the covid-19 pandemic.
For the program, this means a lot of cancellations as students go in the isolation because of infected classmates.
We are pleased that we are able to continue to be a great place for classes to be held in the outside, fresh air and that we can give the children a sense of freedom after so many months inside and at home.
One of the new types of groups we are running this semester is an occupational therapy group for young people with special needs.
This group comes to the Zoo and learns about all the different types of jobs people do and assists the Zoo staff with various tasks, supervised by their therapists.
One such task is helping the gardeners in the vast and beautiful grounds of the Zoo. They have especially enjoyed gathering leaves, which are abundant at this time of the year.
We are delighted that this pilot has gone well and we will be able make this new group activity available to more groups in the future.
