Dear Valued Supporters,
We are writing to share the latest update from the Animal-Assisted Therapy Program at the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo, which serves children and adults with special needs.
Since we last reported to you, we were please to receive 4 more new groups consisting of participants from both the Arabic- and Hebrew-speaking communities. In addition, we also opening a new post-traumatic counseling group for recovering soldiers.
Unfortunately, the ongoing war situation in the Middle East has negatively impacted this and many other education programs. Due to safety concerns, we are currently unable to receive our participants at the Zoo. However, we have tried as far as possible to mitigate the situation by at least connecting with them via internet video chat during which we show them the animals and try to do some therapeutic group work.
We hope to provide more positive news in our next report.
With heartfelt gratitude for your continued support.
The Animal-Assisted Therapy Team
