Another successful year of programming has ended and we are working full-steam ahead for the beginning of the new school year in beginning in September.
We have been using the summer time to work of staff training and enrichment.
This past year we held two special training sessions around learning new skills in working with special populations.
We had a psychologist who specializes in working with autistic children come in to speak with us. It was a frontal lecture in which she introduced us to new innovative theories in working with the autistic population.
This was accompanied by a more experiential exercise in which we were able to try out some of the new skills we acquired. It was both enlightening and inspiring.
One of our own staff members prepared a presentation for us in his area of expertise, working with the deaf population. We were able to learn from his many years of experience working with the deaf community.
We look forward to using the new skills we have learnt.
