Dear Supporters!

Parvovirus is a seasonal disease for canines and this time we have started receiving almost 30 to 35 cases on the daily basis where our Jivdaya mobile clinic vans reached out to their local area for the treatment and fast recovery.

Canine parvovirus is a highly contagious viral disease which spreads rapidly in the Puppies, adolescent dogs and canines who are not vaccinated. It severely affects intestinal track and also the white blood cells, and when young animals are infected, the virus can damage the heart muscle and cause lifelong cardiac problem or can even prove to be fatal for the animals. The general symptoms of parvovirus are lethargy, severe vomiting, loss of appetite and bloody foul-smelling diarrhoea that can lead to life-threatening dehydration. Last month Jivdaya Charitable Trust successfully treated above 70 percent of dogs infected with parvovirus and provided intensive treatment, antibiotics, drugs to control the vomiting, intravenous fluids and other supportive therapies to control the symptoms and boost the dog’s immune system to help him win the battle against this dangerous disease.

Parvovirus is extremely contagious and can be transmitted by any person, animal or object that comes in contact with an infected dog's faces. Highly resistant, the virus can live in the environment for months, and may survive on inanimate objects such as food bowls, shoes, clothes, carpet and floors. It is common for an unvaccinated dog to contract parvovirus from the streets, especially in urban areas where there are many stray dogs. Although there are no drugs available that can kill the virus yet if it crosses the preliminary stage so vaccinate the dogs would be the best prevention for this deadliest disease.

Thank you for joining us and become a part of this amazing journey of animal welfare. We couldn’t have done this without the support and generosity of your donors, hoping for such great deed in the future too.
