Dogs, much like humans, require a lot of water and electrolytes to ensure their bodies are working properly. Water is so important, in fact, that essentially all bodily functions require it to remain healthy and operative. There are several reasons that stray dogs become dehydrated, including heatstroke as they do not have a roof on their head, persistent vomiting or diarrhea due to seasonal changes, insufficient fluid intake due to rapid habitat loss, and absence of clean drinking water, illness, or fever. Severe dehydration is a common emergency observed in most of the cases by our Ambulance Vans in this season.
Recently we have come across one such case of a beautiful dog named ‘Tobi’ who was suffering from severe dehydration near Ranip, Ahmedabad. The local caretakers addressed that Tobi has lost all energy and call our helpline for treatment. Our team of ‘Animal Care on Wheels’ rushed to the locality. After examination, they found the dog is suffering from severe dehydration and unable to eat past 3 days. Our doctor and assistants started intravenous fluid therapy immediately with other medication to stabilize the condition. Right now, Tobi is under strict follow-up and care. We are hoping within a week Tobi will be fit to play in her territory again.
We thank you all for helping us provide timely treatment and rehabilitation to Tobi and many other lives. We are proud to have you in our family, and together we have a long way to go. Thank you once again for having our back.
