Animal care summary for March 2017

Animals and people have co-existed for thousands of years, with animals playing a vital role in natural ecosystems and communities across the globe. Despite the strong relationship people have with animals, many animals suffer poor welfare. Free roaming animals are often inhumanely treated in misguided attempts to eliminate diseases such as rabies, and sometimes due to ignorance and false beliefs.

We try and do our best to help un-owned animals in our city and our 3 mobile clinic vans have been working tirelessly to reach out to as many as we can. We are fortunate to have a dedicated team of skilled animal handlers, passionate care givers, and expert veterinarians who work make it possible to provide care and comfort to over a thousand ailing animals. In the month of March 2017, we provided veterinary care to 1334 ailing animals, out of which 22 patients were admitted in our hospital for surgeries and long-term recuperation. We are happy to report that 20 of these in-patients were successfully rehabilitated back in their home areas in within the same month. Elaborate treatments included post surgery management, nutrition management as well as physiotherapy for animals that suffered fractures and joint dislocations.

Thank you for making this happen!

We now have a new reporting system in place, which means you will now get very regular updates about our work.

We try to reach out to the public via our facebook page that also features many animal care stories. We try to use this medium to share stories that advocates compassion and encourages the public to coexist with animals in our environment.

We hope to keep you posted with the latest happenings from the field and some heart-warming stories that inspire us everyday.

Thank you once again for your continued support.
