Resources and education support conservation

By Limpopo Project Manager | Limpopo team

Thanks, as always, for your kind donations and support for our work on the karongwe game reserve.

Resources are so vital to our work and the funds we raise goes towards acquiring and maintaining resources for our work.

For example, there are 22 camera stations on Karongwe Private Game Reserve. These cameras allow us to capture a range of wildlife imagery in various areas of the reserve.

Camera traps are a great way to collect data passively, without infringing on the space or behaviour of the animals. The data collected provides ongoing information of what animal species are moving where on the reserve.

We track cheetah, hyena, lions just to name a few. This data is shared with the reserve stakeholders and conservation teams to optimise animal wellbeing on the property.

You can see by this one example that your support helps continuity of this tracking process.

Education is another key aspect of our project.

Once a week we head into our local community to give environmental education lessons at the primary school. This is an amazing opportunity for us to share our passion for the environment with the next generation and hopefully inspire them to help us look after the world around them.

Throughout the year we also aim to give each of the grade 7 students an opportunity to come with us on a game drive to experience nature first hand and see how truly special it is. These students are our future and educating and supporting them to connect with and understand nature is a big step towards conservationists for the future.

Thanks so much for your ongoing support.  Your donations go a long way in supporting our project.
