This project empowers 2,500 school students & 500 teachers across 25 schools in Egypt with the first-ever, age-appropriate anti-sexual abuse curriculum designed for the Egyptian context. Children learn to recognize unsafe behavior, set personal boundaries, speak up, & seek help. Teachers are trained to identify warning signs, respond appropriately, & create safer school environments. Intervening early, this project addresses sexual abuse B4 it happens-reducing harm, breaking cycles of silence.
Sexual harassment and abuse are widespread and deeply normalized in Egypt, yet rarely addressed through formal education. A national study revealed that: 86.2% of women reported verbal or sexual harassment 99% of unmarried young women experienced verbal harassment 37.4% reported sexual harassment Despite these alarming numbers, children are rarely taught how to recognize abuse, protect themselves, or report safely. Cultural stigma, fear, and silence prevent disclosure
Not Guilty addresses the root of the problem through prevention-focused education. Our solution delivers a culturally appropriate, age-specific curriculum that equips students and teachers with: Clear understanding of safe vs. unsafe behavior Practical skills for boundary-setting and self-protection Safe reporting pathways for children Teacher training on early detection and response The program promotes informed decision-making and behavior change at the individual, family, and community levels
This project will directly train: 1,500 female students 1,000 male students 500 teachers and school staff The long-term impact includes: Increased reporting and early intervention Reduced tolerance for sexual harassment Safer school environments Stronger child protection systems within communities Successful implementation will elevate the visibility of the Not Guilty model at the national level & strengthen the case for replication across Egypt & other countries in the MENA area.
