Did you know that one in four girls is sexually abused before she is 18?
Did you know that one in every six boys is sexually abused before he is 18?
Did you know that less than 10% of cases are reported because of the shame and the stigma associated with sexual abuse?
Did you know that sexual abuse has long-lasting consequences? That it messes up a person's worldview forever?
Do you know how to protect your kids?
This is precisely why Not Guilty for Family Development exists: to flood Egypt with antisexual abuse materials, provide support, and deliver prevention services to children, parents, teachers, and social workers, thus empowering parents and children.
We called the campaign NOT GUILTY because it is never the victim's fault when sexual abuse happens.
Our Vision is: For every child, woman and man in the Middle East, life without sexual abuse.
Our Mission: Not Guilty is a campaign committed to bringing an end to sexual abuse in the Middle East through awareness, education, media, and support programs.
One of the programs we train kids on is Things I Can Control and Things I CanNot Control.
It is important to know that I can control my reactions, for example, but I cannot control what other people do.
Some events in a child's life are not his/her fault, but how they react to them is important.
We also train kids and youth on anger management.
These life skills can change the trajectory of a child's life.
Our Core Values are passion, integrity, transparency, professionalism, care for others, Courage and boldness, empathy, and offering help to survivors.
We felt we had to equip ourselves for such a delicate mission.
Not Guilty is an awareness and prevention campaign. For kids, it is like a fire drill or an earthquake drill…it is an antisexual abuse drill: We teach children how to run, scream, and report in case of sexual abuse. We use songs, skits, colors, puppets, and stories. We also teach teachers the signs and consequences of abuse and what to do if a case is reported. We teach parents how to spot the signs of abuse and how to protect their children.
We work in schools, nurseries, and orphanages so as not to leave any loopholes for the perpetrator.
Because of Not Guilty's unique achievements, Dr. Laila Risgallah, Founder and President of Not Guilty, was chosen as an Ashoka Arab World fellow in 2013. This is a great honor for her and Not Guilty.
These achievements include training more than 12,000 kids, teachers, and parents, counseling more than 1200 hours with specialized counselors and psychiatrists, and distributing 6000 kids' Not Guilty Books for boys and girls.
Not Guilty intends to be a hub for material to other NGOs or psychiatrists working with kids or with sexual abuse.
Not Guilty has developed an Arabic song for kids, a coloring book with antisexual abuse messages for kids, flags, bags, puzzles, Arabic feeling cards, a puzzle, a series of short stories for youth, and an awareness booklet for parents.
We believe that prevention is better than cure.
Join us in making child sexual abuse obsolete in the Middle East
