Changing society is not easy: it is painful and needs perseverance, but seeing transformation and change stirs me on to continue. There are times when I feel depleted, but even little successes drive me to continue.
One group we trained in Alexandria last summer were primary kids aged 9-12 from shanty areas all around Alexandria. When we visited the village later, we found one of the girls who has been through our training- a 9 year old girl, seated on the pavement, together with six other girls. She was teaching them about protecting themselves, and about screaming and reporting.
Another 10 year old boy, after attending our training, went back and reported to his parents that his uncle has been sexually abusing him. When the father asked him why he never told before that day, he told him that he learned that he needs to report. Sure enough, the father prevented the uncle from ever visiting them again.
I have been counseling some girls, ages 5-8 that have been sexually abused by family members. The guilt, the shame, the anger is horrendous. Seeing the stunted emotional growth of those girls, I am adamant to continue whatever hardships I face, and whatever it takes. Opposition to what I am doing is an everyday occurrence. The secrecy shrouding sexual abuse makes it a hard nut to crack, but, watching those little girls bloom after many hours of counseling makes it all worthwhile.
SO every time we face opposition, we remember that true warriors do not run from the sound of battle, but to it, as Rick Joyner put it.
And the opposition we faced this year, was like never before.
But, as a friend wrote me when I shared with him my battle for survival, ‘..Those who understand the struggle we are in will recognize that the enemy will have his day. But we know the end. At the right time God will raise up the vision in His power in ways you cannot now imagine. Between now and then our greatest injury is usually to our pride …’
So, while we are concerned about getting the task done, God is concerned about those involved in the task; He is concerned about our character.
This is the time to partner with Not Guilty if you have not already done so.
We are on the verge of a great year, 2016, and we want you to be a part of God’s tsunami of blessings.
Do go to
and be blessed. Do not wait until tomorrow.
Happy 2016
