By Francis Osisiogu | Project Leader
Following the December 30, 2025 fire incident that destroyed 10 textile shops at Arena Market, the recovery project has been launched to support affected traders through emergency financial assistance and safety restoration.
Financial Update (Priority Overview)
At this stage, fundraising remains in the early phase, with minimal contributions received relative to the urgent recovery needs. The project is actively seeking additional funding to enable immediate disbursement of recovery grants to affected traders.
Implementation Status
No cash grants have yet been disbursed, as funding is still insufficient to begin full-scale support. Preparatory planning for beneficiary verification and distribution structure is ongoing.
Key Financial Priorities Moving Forward
Summary
The project currently faces a significant funding gap, limiting immediate relief efforts. However, the framework is in place to ensure that once funds increase, support will be quickly delivered to restore the businesses of the 10 affected traders and strengthen fire safety in Arena Market.
