Summary

Since 2007, we have placed children at the heart of our intervention. Through weekly interventions in ZEP schools, in collaboration with engaged teachers, we create dynamic learning spaces that cater to the unique needs of vulnerable children. By integrating arts into academic subjects, we empower children with diverse backgrounds to thrive and succeed. Through art, children develop skills such as questioning, critical thinking, imagination, emotional control, and effective communication.

Challenge

Our education system fails to equip teachers with adequate resources, leading to discouraged and unmotivated educators who struggle to manage large classes and complete syllabus under pressure. As a result, the classroom atmosphere becomes tense, hindering children's motivation to learn, and disrupting parent-teacher cooperation. Our intention is to bridge the poverty gap by providing educational support to underprivileged communities so every child has a chance to reach his/her full potential.

Solution

We work to address these inequalities by delivering a tailored programme with scientifically proven educational resources focused on three core elements: values, interactive pedagogy and arts. Art workshops aim at helping children to become active learners by favouring interactivity, participation and motivation in class. TIPA also aims at building children's self confidence by developing their knowledge and appropriation of rights, responsibilities, values, and by valorising their progress.

Long-Term Impact

This project will encourage participatory communities; more than 300 children and 50 parents. Change expected: 1) Children feel respected, are confident and express themselves freely. They are self-motivated and participate. 2) Teachers feel confident about their profession, they have good relationships with parents, pupils and colleagues. TIPA invites children to share their achievement & ideas, provides moments & resources for educators to use and share educational tool to improve class life.
