El pasado 14 de febrero, con motivo del día de la amistad, se realizó una actividad solidaria entre el Laboratorio de Artes Integradas (LAI), el Instituto de Oncología "Dr. Luis Razetti" y el club Rotaract Caracas. El LAI es un programa extra-curricular que busca complementar la educación tradicional con la experiencia única del aprecio por las artes, y que atiende a niños y jóvenes de zonas populares de Caracas. El Instituto de Oncología es el primer centro creado para el diagnóstico y tratamiento del cáncer en Venezuela, fundado en 1936. El club Rotaract Caracas es una organización internacional de jóvenes líderes que se dedican al servicio de la humanidad a través de proyectos sostenibles.
La actividad consistió en la elaboración de brazaletes artesanales por parte de los niños y jóvenes del LAI, utilizando materiales reciclados y de bajo costo, como botellas plásticas, hilos, cuentas y adornos. Los brazaletes fueron diseñados con colores vivos y mensajes de esperanza, y entregados personalmente a los pacientes del Instituto de Oncología, como un gesto de apoyo y solidaridad.
La actividad tuvo un impacto positivo tanto en los niños y jóvenes del LAI, como en los pacientes del Instituto de Oncología. Los primeros pudieron expresar su creatividad y sensibilidad, y desarrollar valores como la empatía, la generosidad y el respeto. Los segundos recibieron un regalo que les alegró el día y les transmitió un mensaje de ánimo y cariño.
La actividad fue posible gracias al apoyo de los profesores y voluntarios del LAI, así como del personal médico y administrativo del Instituto de Oncología. También se contó con la colaboración del club Rotaract Caracas, que se encargó de la coordinación logística, la difusión mediática y el acompañamiento a los niños y jóvenes del LAI. Se espera que esta sea la primera de muchas iniciativas que promuevan la integración social y cultural a través de las artes, y que contribuyan a mejorar la calidad de vida de las personas que enfrentan el cáncer.

On February 14, to celebrate Valentine's Day, a solidarity activity was carried out between the Integrated Arts Laboratory (LAI), the "Dr. Luis Razetti" Oncology Institute and the Rotaract Caracas club. LAI is an extracurricular program that seeks to complement traditional education with the unique experience of appreciation for the arts, and that serves children and teenagers, from popular areas of Caracas. The Oncology Institute is the first center created for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer in Venezuela, founded in 1936. The Rotaract Caracas club is an international organization of young leaders who dedicate themselves to the service of humanity through sustainable projects.
The activity consisted of the elaboration of handmade bracelets by the children and teenagers, of the LAI, using recycled and low-cost materials, such as plastic bottles, threads, beads and ornaments. The bracelets were designed with bright colors and messages of hope, and were personally delivered to the patients of the Oncology Institute, as a gesture of support and solidarity.
The activity had a positive impact on the children and teenagers of the LAI, and on the patients of the Oncology Institute. The kids were able to express their creativity and sensitivity and develop values such as empathy, generosity and respect. The patients in receiving a gift that brightened their day and conveyed a message of encouragement and affection.
The activity was possible thanks to the support of the teachers and volunteers of the LAI, as well as the medical and administrative staff of the Oncology Institute. It also had the collaboration of the Rotaract Caracas club, which was in charge of the logistical coordination, the media dissemination and the accompaniment of the children and young people of the LAI. It is hoped that this will be the first of many initiatives that promote social and cultural integration through the arts, and that contribute to improving the quality of life of people facing cancer.
