Dental Health & Education for Guatemala’s Children
For many children in Guatemala, access to dental care is nearly impossible. Cavities go untreated, infections spread, and simple dental issues become lifelong health concerns.
With Guatemala ranking 1st in Latin America and 6th in the world for child malnutrition, the impact of poor oral health is even greater - children suffering from untreated dental problems often struggle to eat, leading to malnutrition and other health complications.
That’s why we are thrilled to announce the reopening of the Nuestros Ahijados Dental Clinic!
After closing during the pandemic due to lack of funding, the clinic is now back, thanks to the generosity of a dental practice, Concept Dentistry in North Dakota, and many other supporters.
In just our first two weeks, we served over 100 children and families, providing cleanings, cavity treatments, extractions, and - perhaps most importantly - education on proper dental hygiene.
Beyond providing essential treatments, we are teaching children how to care for their teeth and prevent future issues. Volunteers are leading engaging, hands-on dental education sessions, using fun tools like Sonrisas, a big-toothed, happy sruffed animal monkey that makes brushing and flossing fun! The children light up with excitement, eager to learn how to protect their smiles for years to come.
This life-changing work is only possible because of you. Every gift helps us expand dental services, purchase equipment, and continue these critical education programs. Together, we can ensure that every child in our program has the healthy, confident smile they deserve.
