Nestled in Antigua, Guatemala, the Dreamer Center at Asociación Nuestros Ahijados (ANA) provides children with a safe place to learn, grow, and dream.
When Dayana first joined the Dreamer Reinforcement Program at The Dreamer Center in 2025, she was a shy little girl with big potential and significant challenges ahead of her.
At just six years old, she was preparing to enter school, but our team quickly recognized that she was struggling with important language, communication, and motor skills that would make learning more difficult.
Without support, these challenges could have impacted her confidence, academic success, and long-term opportunities.
Dayana is the youngest of four siblings, all of whom participate in the Dreamer Reinforcement Program. For her family, the program has become much more than an after-school center. It is a place where their children receive academic support, nutritious meals, encouragement, and the individualized attention they need to thrive.
Over the past year, Dayana's transformation has been remarkable.
Through consistent academic support, hands-on learning activities, and personalized guidance, she has strengthened her language skills, improved her communication abilities, and made significant progress in her motor development. Little by little, she began to gain confidence in herself.
Today, Dayana is seven years old and proudly attending first grade.
She participates actively in classroom activities, enjoys reading and writing at an age-appropriate level, and eagerly takes part in group projects and learning experiences. Perhaps most importantly, she has developed the confidence to express herself, build friendships, and embrace new challenges with enthusiasm.
When asked what she enjoys most about the program, her answer was simple:
"I like coming to the Dreamer Program because I learn and have fun at the same time. When I arrive, I feel happy because I can play with my friends and do many fun activities."
She loves making crafts, coloring, learning new things, and spending time with the friends she has made through the program.
"My teachers help me with my homework and teach me how to read and write. Some things used to be harder for me, but now I can do them better, and that makes me happy."
Like many children, some of Dayana's favorite memories are simple ones. She loves sharing meals with her friends, especially the warm atol served at the center. She enjoys playing with younger children, running in the open spaces, and being part of a community where she feels safe, valued, and loved.
"I always want to come because I feel happy here. I learn many things, and everyone treats me with so much kindness."
Dayana's story is a powerful reminder that education is about more than grades.
When children receive support during their earliest years, they gain confidence, discover their abilities, and begin to believe in their future. Every word learned, every book read, every friendship formed, and every challenge overcome becomes a building block for a brighter tomorrow.
Thanks to compassionate supporters like you, children like Dayana are receiving the tools they need to learn, grow, and dream without limits.
Today, Dayana learns with confidence.
She plays with joy.
She dreams with hope.
And her story is only just beginning.
