Educate 300 Guatemalan Children

In Guatemala, only 35% of students reach satisfactory levels in reading, and just 11% in mathematics. These numbers reflect more than academic struggles - they reflect a generation of children being left behind.

But thanks to your support, we are changing that.

At Asociación Nuestros Ahijados, our After-School Reinforcement Program gives over 150 children between the ages of 6 and 15 a chance to grow, learn, and belong. Through daily tutoring in math, reading, and language, children are not only catching up - they’re discovering their potential.

But education alone isn’t enough.

Many of the children we serve face food insecurity, unstable homes, and limited family support. That’s why our program also provides nutritious lunches and snacks, emotional support, and a safe space while their parents are at work.

We offer structured activities focused on values, positive peer relationships, and self-esteem - because building a strong mind means nurturing the whole child.

One of our students, an 8-year-old boy, came to us with deep challenges. His mother had abandoned him, leaving his elderly grandmother to care for him with very limited resources. He struggled with confidence, had difficulty connecting with his peers, and often failed to complete assignments.

But everything changed when he joined our program.

Within weeks, his academic performance began to improve. He became more engaged in class, made friends, and started turning in his homework on time. His grandmother said it best:

“He’s not just doing better in school - he’s smiling more. He feels like he belongs.”

This is the heart of our After-School Reinforcement Program. We don’t just teach - we reach. We build a community where every child is seen, valued, and supported.
