In August 2025, severe floods in Mali affected 16,437 people, causing 23 deaths, 34 injuries, and the collapse of over 1,000 homes. Families lost shelters, wells, latrines, livestock, and 407 hectares of crops. Women, children, and the elderly face urgent risks of hunger and disease. Immediate aid is needed to save lives and help communities recover and build resilience.
This project will save lives by providing food, clean water, hygiene kits, medical care, and temporary shelters to flood-affected families. It will rehabilitate wells and latrines to prevent disease, restore farmland and livestock to rebuild livelihoods, and train communities in disaster risk reduction. Combining urgent relief with long-term recovery, it will reduce vulnerability and strengthen resilience.
The project will strengthen community resilience by restoring livelihoods, rebuilding essential infrastructure, and promoting disaster preparedness. Families will regain food security, safe water, and stable shelter, while training in risk reduction will help them face future floods. Long-term, this support empowers vulnerable groups, reduces dependence on aid, and builds safer, more resilient communities in Mali.
