To the generous donors of our GlobalGiving At Home Discovery Kit campaign,
We are pleased to report that your charitable contributions are helping us plan a marine pharmacology themed At Home Discovery Kits for families throughout the Virgin Islands. The marine pharmacology prospecting discovery kits will be curated for children from kindergarten through 5th grade and a more advanced kit will be created for children in middle grades and high school. Recipients will learn how scientists find and create new medicines derived from chemical compounds found in nature.
The marine pharmacology prospecting discovery kit will include items such as activity pages, books, colored pencils, crayons, stickers, and projects to help foster an understanding of the real world applications of science. In the fields of medicine, biotechnology and pharmacology, drug discovery is the process by which new candidate medications are discovered. Children and families will learn about how marine-derived pharmaceuticals are discovered and learn about historic drug discoveries from the Caribbean Sea.
The At Home Discovery Kit program is ongoing and our next distribution will be a marine pharmacology prospecting discovery kit to be distributed in Spring/Summer 2024. Thank you for helping us help kids Explore, Play, Discover, at home.
