We are back with an update on our work. As we continue to slowly but surely progress towards our goal to build a center for sexually abused children, we continue to work in the communities to prevent and respond to situations of abuse and neglect.
First, we want to thank all of you who contributed to our campaign on Giving Tuesday. It was the first time that we actively participated and although the concept of matching funds is not very well known in the Dominican Republic, we still managed to get some very welcomed donations. Thank you!
In terms of getting ready for the center, some of our staff completed a UNICEF training on Prevention of Sexual Abuse and Exploitation which was very informative and will be useful in our work,
Also, we were approached by the government institution in charge of abuse and neglected children to help them improve their services and we are preparing a training for their staff.
Finally, we are happy to announce that we have secured some funding to work in the communities to improve gender norms related to girls and gender non-conforming individuals and we will be starting soon. We hope to have wonderful stories to share with you in our next report.
These are some of the ways we have found to continue supporting the children in need until we can build the center.

Estamos de regreso con una actualización de nuestro trabajo. A medida que avanzamos lenta pero seguramente hacia nuestro objetivo de construir un centro para niños abusados sexualmente, continuamos trabajando en las comunidades para prevenir y responder a situaciones de abuso y negligencia.
Primero, queremos agradecerles a todos los que contribuyeron a nuestra campaña de Giving Tuesday. Fue la primera vez que participamos activamente y aunque el concepto de fondos de contrapartida no es muy conocido en la República Dominicana, logramos obtener algunas donaciones muy bienvenidas. ¡Gracias!
En términos de preparación para el centro, parte de nuestro personal completó una capacitación de UNICEF sobre Prevención del Abuso y Explotación Sexual que fue muy informativa y será útil en nuestro trabajo.
Además, la institución gubernamental encargada del abuso y niños abandonados se acercó a nosotros para ayudarlos a mejorar sus servicios y estamos preparando una capacitación para su personal.
Finalmente, nos complace anunciar que hemos obtenido algunos fondos para trabajar en las comunidades para mejorar las normas de género relacionadas con las niñas y las personas no conformes con su género y comenzaremos pronto. Esperamos tener historias maravillosas para compartir con ustedes en nuestro próximo informe.
Estas son algunas de las formas que hemos encontrado para seguir apoyando a los niños necesitados hasta que podamos construir el centro.
