Class 17 Arrives in Washington DC!
Class 17 Arrives in Washington DC!

Hello-

Today, we celebrate an important milestone that you helped us achieve: Atlas Corps Class 17 celebrates one month at their Host Organizations! These Fellows are part of the Emerging Global Leadership Initiative (EGLI)-Atlas Corps Fellowship, our partnership with the U.S. Department of State launched as part of President Obama's Stand with Civil Society Agenda.

About four weeks ago, these 23 inspired global leaders arrived in Washington, DC. They participated in a week of Orientation and a week of Immersion (our professional development series) with all of our Fellows in the United States. Then, our Fellows traveled to their Host Organizations to start their year of service. A few details about our newest Class of Fellows:

  • We sent our first Fellows to serve in Chicago, IL, at Heartland Alliance International.
  • We welcomed our first Fellows from the Palestinian Territories and Tunisia.
  • We launched a new partnership with the U.S. Embassy in Jamaica.

Here is a reflection from Fellow Luther Jeke (Liberia, Host: Creative Associates International):

"I am of the strong conviction that I made the right decision. I came here for a good purpose. The Atlas Corps experience is going to develop me personally and professionally. Personal development is all about progress. Motivation is key to on-going improvement and this is something I am going to gain from this fellowship. This change in pace in my life’s own little marathon will definitely inject that extra spark of energy and creativity in me. I encourage the young people of Liberia and other emerging countries to keep pushing through challenges and everything will work out...."

Thank you for supporting Luther and all of our Fellows as they develop personally and professionally as they "push through challenges" to achieve great things!

Save the Date: GlobalGiving Bonus Day Wednesday, March 18, 9:00 AM EDT  All donations matched at 30%, while matching funds are available. Support Atlas Corps Class 17 and our network of more than 300 Fellows from 70 countries!
