In the context of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence (GBV), we organized an Integral Health Day in Arequipa (the second largest city in Peru). Our Migration Expert, Martha Fernández, and our team of local volunteers talked about the importance of preventing violence and provided participants with knowledge on the cycle of violence, how to identify victims of GBV, reporting GBV, and the early identification of warnings signs. Additionally, we provided information on sexual and reproductive health and HIV.
Over 300 people attended the event, and the impact has been especially significant for our target audience. We partnered with San Pablo University, Save the Children, the Red Cross and ACNUR to improve our outreach and boost the impact of our activities on local communities.
“A lot of people came, and we attended both refugees and migrants and the local Peruvian population, which also turned the event into a space for integration. It would be great to be able to expand this initiative to reach even more people”. Said Inés, member of our Boss Women Program.
This kind of special initiatives would not be possible without your support. We hope to be able to keep up this great work together! Thank you!
Sincerely,
Rosario Félix
