Promoting Female Leadership at the II Meeting of Migrant and Refugee Women in Peru
Within the framework of the global campaign of the 16 Days of Activism for the eradication of violence against women, the Network of Leaders joined the II Meeting of migrant and refugee women in Peru. This event, organized by APPV, Amnesty International, UNHCR, IOM, and Encuentros Servicio de Jesuita, a safe space, conducive to the exchange of experiences and dialogues that address the daily complexities that migrant women face.
The active participation of the Network of Women Leaders in this meeting acquires crucial relevance, since it focuses on work with women and seeks to promote an environment of mutual support. The work of these leaders stands out for their comprehensive approach and their commitment to the prevention of gender-based violence.
Sharing Tools for Training and Advocacy
As an essential part of this meeting, the Network of Leaders embarked on the task of sharing valuable tools aimed at empowering migrant and refugee women in their training and advocacy processes on critical issues such as the prevention of gender violence.
In a significant instance, the leaders of Peru and Colombia joined community leaders from several provinces of Peru in an enriching conversation. This space was revealed as a platform where the individual experiences of these women were presented as references of female leadership that arises in the midst of the challenges inherent to the migration process.
A Transformative Dialogue
The conversation not only served as a forum to share experiences, but also as a transformative dialogue that highlights the resilience and strength of migrant and refugee women. The Network's leaders, through their stories, showed how they have overcome obstacles, forged solid community ties, and emerged as agents of change in their respective communities.
This meeting is not only about exchanging experiences, but also about inspiring and empowering migrant and refugee women. The Women Leaders Network, in collaboration with host organizations, has established a valuable precedent by creating a space where women's voices are not only heard, but celebrated and empowered.
