Summary

Our project will transform the lives of domestic workers in Peru, who, due to extreme poverty, have lacked educational opportunities and face discrimination and labor abuse. Our project offers them job training, emotional support, and advocacy for their rights. With your support, these women will find more fair and respectful jobs, learn about their labor rights, and strengthen their self-esteem, leading them to a life of greater dignity and equality.

Challenge

More than 391,000 domestic workers in Peru suffer from informal employment, depriving them of social benefits that protect their family finances and health. Only 2% have a written contract, lack health insurance, lack awareness of their labor rights (Law 31047), long hours without extra pay, and are undervalued and abused due to low self-esteem. AGTR provides training in rights and social skills, provides emotional support, and disseminates the law. This benefits domestic workers and families.

Solution

Your donation will empower domestic workers. AGTR will train them on their labor rights and specialized care to become caregivers for the elderly or nanny. They will provide emotional support through expressive arts therapy and labor mediation counseling to resolve conflicts with their employers. We will advocate politically and disseminate Law 31047 through our social media channels and La Van de Panchita (mobile unit) to improve their lives, self-esteem, and working conditions.

Long-Term Impact

This project will transform the lives of 300 domestic workers by ensuring formal employment with written contracts and access to social benefits, thus addressing the serious problem of labor informality. Domestic workers and employers will be informed about Law 31047, promoting fair and equitable labor relations. Strengthening these workers' communication skills will allow them to perform with greater confidence and defend their rights.
