The impact of the migratory movement is usually different for men and women. Significant cases of inequality and situations of vulnerability marked significantly in women are observed.
The number of Venezuelans who have left their country has reached 5 million in April 2020, of which women represent between 45 and 47% of the total¨
Through the Boss Women program implemented by our organization, we have managed to identify that Venezuelan refugee and migrant women show low self-esteem, hopelessness and discouragement. That is why we have dedicated ourselves to female empowerment by providing tools that allow these women to face the day to day in their process as migrants.
On April 22, we had the opportunity to share a space for women, where the renowned Peruvian journalist and broadcaster Angie Palomino, with her conference "Build your Power", provided tools, resources and moments that allowed all the participants to reflect. Addressing various topics such as: sexuality, life as a couple, personal care, among others, but always with a look inside each woman.
Among some of the testimonies that we were able to collect among the participants of the space ¨Build your Power¨ the following stand out:
¨I liked it because it allows a space for women to accept the idea that emotionally we are intense, seeing it as a positive characteristic and not as a criticism, that helps us feel comfortable with how we feel in different situations without having to hold back ¨Carol Tremont.
