Checking Peru

By Agata Zumaeta | Project Leader

Articulated work between international organizations, different community-based organizations and entities of the Peruvian state within the framework of ¨National Prevention Week Check Peru¨

Peru is the second country to receive the largest number of migrants from Venezuela. Between Colombia and Peru is 50% of the people who left. This tells us that we are facing a migrant population with great needs, especially in terms of health.

Bearing in mind the need of the refugee and migrant population, we created alliances and joined initiatives of international organizations such as Action Against Hunger, community-based organizations and Peruvian state agencies. Together we created ¨National Prevention Week¨ together with the Directorate of Integrated Health Networks (DIRIS) Lima North, entitled ¨Chequéate Perú¨.

Check yourself Peru, they are spaces for mega conferences on health open to the entire population, both host and refugee and migrant population, we were present there with the intention of giving support and assistance for cardiovascular diseases, oncological diseases, kidney diseases, diabetes , hypertension, hypothyroidism, obesity, mental health disease risks, obstetric and neonatal risks, syphilis, tuberculosis, HIV. Additionally, we have information spaces on the prevention of gender-based violence, reporting channels, issues of female empowerment, etc.

We continue working and opening the possibilities to better assist the refugee and migrant population.
