With this project we aim to develop a National program based on providing Disaster Relief to Animals both stock and domestic. We hope to create Dedicated Community Animal Response Teams that will provide Preparedness, Response and Relief to animal owners across Australia. We hope to support owners and their animals in the event of evacuations to help reduce the loss of life, both human and animal where possible.
The Bushfire Foundation has identified a significant gap in the preparedness , response and relief concerning Animals (Stock and Domestic), when a Natural Disaster occurs in Australia. While our Nation regularly experiences Natural Disasters ,our responses are often reactive and short term. There are several reports from prominent groups call for "More to be done".
What the Foundation hopes to achieve, is to develop and foster a new approach to Natural Disasters for Animals. We hope to create Dedicated fit for purpose Community Animal Response Teams ,that will deliver Preparedness works for identified vulnerable community members . Develop Response methods, support and Relief Animal Food Banks.
The potential long term impacts of these Community Animal Response teams will be community development , employment and training and the reduction of loss of life for both animals and humans. The non tangible impacts will be in the strengthening of the physical recovery time and the mental health recovery time. This innovative initiative will also provide knock on Financial benefits as well through the general running costs for each CART.
