GIRLS HAVE EQUAL RIGHT FOR EDUCATION

As shared before women are 50% of total population and literacy rate is very low less than 28% and in some rural backward areas is 16%. Women literacy mean girls only write their name and read a paragraph. In Pakistan, women have not equal rights of education and boys always get priority. Parents believe that girls are a liability, married and go to her husband him but boys are an investment for secure future and they will take care of parents when becoming older.

Muwakhat Foundation’s team working in community since 2003 for the uplift living standard of poor household and empower women through education, legal awareness, health facilities and economic opportunities.

As Muslim country, it is obligatory for women to get educated. As an organization, it is observed that girls drop out rate high in primary education due to lack of awareness in parents and economic issue.

COMMUNITY AWARENESS MEETINGS

Muwakhat Foundation team conducted eight awareness meetings with parents on girls education in Lahore and Kasur cities.

In awareness meeting, share the importance of girl education especially in the light of Quran and did interactive sessions with mothers. We observed that mothers want to send their girls to school but cannot raise the voice in front of the decision of father or head of households.

Total 365 mothers attended awareness meetings.

In awareness session of Lahore, Seema 14 years old girl asked to Muwakaht team that how they help to send her school? She wants to call herself a school teacher.
