Dropout 500 Girls Back to High School in Pakistan

ZAHIDA WANT TO JOIN MUWAKHAT REHABLITATION CENTER

I want to join Rehabilitation and Pre-school center and become teacher. I never go to school because school resident at distance and it is difficult to go to school alone. Zahida was requesting to Muwakhat team who were registering homeless children from age 6 years to 12 years and Zahida was not met criteria because she was 16 years old. When community’s women seen Zahida requesting for registered her name, they also requested for their daughter to register at center.

Muwakhat’s Action: Zareen Aamir chairperson decided to have separate center for girls above 12 years and never went to school. The center will provide integrated service for girls’ i.e education, skills training and awareness sessions on basic legal rights for women.  

Muwakhat Foundation’s team working in community since 2003 for uplift living standard of poor household and empower women through education, legal awareness, health facilities and economic opportunities.

As Muslim country, it is obligatory for women to get educate. As an organization, it is observed that girls dropout rate high in primary education due to lack of awareness in parents and economic issue.

Anushka applied to US Universities for Aero Space Engineering

Anushka is in her last year of “A level” and her education is support by Muwakhat and GlobalGiving. She applied to seven universities United States. It is big achievement of her life one of the example who proven that girls can show best if get equal support from parents and community.

COMMUNITY AWARENESS MEETINGS WITH GIRLS' PARENTS

Muwakhat Foundation team conducted six awareness meetings with parents on importance of girls’ education in Lahore and Kasur cities.

In awareness meeting, share importance of girl education especially in the light of Quran (muslim religious book) and did interactive sessions with mothers. We observed that mothers want to send their girls to school but cannot raise voice in front of the decision of father or head of households.

Total 180 mothers and fathers attended awareness meetings.

Seven girls rejoin their schools and Muwakhat Foundation providing financial assistance for education

Way Forward

Muwakhat Foundation will open Rehabilitation and Pre-school Center for Girls age above 12 years who never went to school for education. 

Muwakhat team will conduct one to one meeting with 35 parents and motivate to send back their daughters to school

15 girls will be interview and register with organization

ANUSHKA – 17 years old Female

I am in my last year of A levels-studying on a hundred percent scholarship. Despite the fact I am on a scholarship there is still some tuition fees to pay which is quite hard for my family as my mother is the only bread earner and finances are difficult to manage these days.

Previously my fees was paid by GlobalGiving. I am utterly grateful and only because of them I could continue my studies. Due to the fact my fees was paid and I could attend the lectures I got 2A* and 2A in my recent report.

I am currently studying computer sciences and plan to be an aeronautical engineer. MIT has been my dream school since grade 7 and I am applying there. I really hope GlobalGiving can help me pay for MIT just like they helped me before.

I given my first semester exam of grade 5^th and this was happened with support of GlobalGiving. My mother is working in office and supporting whole family but most of time, she unable to give fees of my school. One day, Member of Muwakhat Foundation was visited our home and register to myself and my sister Rozaila who is study in class Grade 2. They I will become doctor to help my mother and community.

I am Rozaila Aamir, studying in Grade 2 Lahore Grammer School Lahore.  I got A’s in All subject in first semester.  I am happy that I selected for read poem in assembly. We visited to botanical garden, seen butterfly house, fish, beautiful flowers and much more. I enjoyed with my all friends and class mate.

MEETING WITH PARENTS

Muwakhat Foundation met with 10 parents, did one to one meeting, provide awareness on girls education and motivate to send back theor daughters. The success rate very high, 6 parents agreed for re-register their daughters.
