Dear Friends and Donors,
Namaste!
We extend our heartfelt gratitude for your incredibly kind and generous donations to our new project: the Daycare Centre for Seasonal Migrant Families' Children in the Mirchi (Chilies) Market, Guntur. Your support is invaluable in transforming the lives of these vulnerable children.
Project Overview and Initial Success
This vital project was successfully operational from February to the last week of April, aligning with the academic year schedules observed by the government. Our primary goal was to provide a safe and nurturing environment for approximately 70 children from families who have migrated from Bihar and Odisha states to work in the chili grading yards of Guntur – Asia's largest chili market.
The project was initiated with the recognition and approval of the Guntur District Education Department under the Samagra Shiksha program, specifically categorized as a seasonal hostel. Around 1500 children had been identified as migrating to this area, many of whom were not enrolled in any educational institutions in Guntur. Instead, they were often found roaming the streets or exposed to the harsh conditions of the chili yards. Our centre addresses this critical need by offering protection, care, education, and nutritious meals, including breakfast, lunch, and snacks.
During its initial operational phase, our dedicated team, comprising one teacher, a caretaker, one cook, and a helper, ensured the well-being of all 70 attending children. Their efforts led to a truly successful and impactful period from February to April.
Current Status and Urgent Appeal
As per the regular schedule of the Mirchi yard, there was a summer break vacation throughout May and extending up to June 15th, 2025. We are now preparing to re-open the centre from July 1st, 2025.
The need for this daycare centre remains profoundly critical, as it provides essential protection and support to these children.
Unfortunately, we have only received $100 for this project between March and June. This limited funding makes it challenging to sustain and continue the crucial operations of the centre.
Therefore, we humbly and urgently request your continued support. Please help us keep this centre running and protect these children who rely on us for their safety, education, and nourishment. Your ongoing generosity will make a tangible difference in their lives.
Thank you so much for your compassion and commitment to our cause.
With sincere gratitude,
BASS Daycare Team
