Summary

The project aims to support 8 most needy patients from different provinces of Afghanistan. They are suffering from various diseases and cannot afford their treatment. Your generous support can help them regain a normal life. For example, Maryam (40) comes from a family with monthly income of 130 USD whereas her open heart surgery would cost 2565 USD. To sum up, a total of 7300 USD would suffice to save 8 precious lives in a war-ridden area with meager resources facing heightened challenges.

Challenge

Patients in critical conditions rush to FMIC as a last resort given its high standards and quality services. Since quality comes with a cost, for patients with poor economic background, it becomes a challenge to avail such services. Cognizant of their circumstances, FMIC makes efforts to subsidize their treatment cost and drug subscription. This particular project will support 8 needy patients requiring treatment for various diseases related to heart, kidney, Urethra, Palate, brain and others.

Solution

8 destitute patients (3 females and 5 males) suffering from various diseases will be able to get free treatment (surgeries) at FMIC. With your contribution, not only eight lives will be saved but it will also bring a ray of hope for those eight families residing in various parts of Afghanistan facing chronic economic situation. One of them will be going through an open heart surgery whereas others will also undergo various complicated surgeries.

Long-Term Impact

Since 2006, FMIC has invested over US$ 36 million in the patient welfare program for the care of 450,000 patients from all 34 provinces of Afghanistan primarily through funding from its partners i.e. Govt. of France, Govt. of Afghanistan, Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) and La Chaine de l'Espoir (CDE). FMIC is committed to ensure accessible healthcare and that patients are cared for with respect and dignity; meet healthcare needs and expectations; and improve health outcomes for Afghans.
