This September marks 8 years of Be Aware And Share (BAAS) and 1 year of our Community Centre in Ioannina. As proud as we are of our organisation, we are incredibly disheartened that in 8 years not enough has changed in the political and social climate that means our services are still required. There are still countless displaced people seeking safety in Greece with adequate support and protection still not being provided.
We are about to enter into one of the harshest times of the year for people on the move, as colder climates make many aspects of life harder while living in temporary accomodation. Recently we have also seen an increase of people being transferred to the mainland, including to the camps surrounding Ioannina, from the Aegean Islands.
In order to fully provide our services, meet demand and adapt to the Winter season, we require as much support as we can get. Our services aim to fill the gaps, while adapting and evolving to meet the needs and wants of our participants, but we can't do this without your help!
As firmly as we celebrate this eight-year anniversary, it is all the more important for us to show that the situation at Europe's borders and the treatment of people on the move and their rights are being further restricted. In a perfect world, our organization should no longer exist. But: we are still here. Thank you so much in advance for all of your donations, sharing and support of Be Aware and Share.
