Imagine a historical data in which multinational voices are freely expressed. Critical and polyphonic sources to history are needed to be spread to different target groups, especially children and young people in Turkey. We grant places of invisible and muted groups in all its activities in history, enhances the freedom of expression and serves to spread an understanding of inclusive history. Your donation will help us to establish human rights awareness with a critical perspective of history.
In Turkey, History education is ideologically and politically extremely polarized and shaped by narrow political interventions. In the field of history education, discrimination against ethnic and religious minorities and gender-based inequalities constitute basic human rights problems. Turkey's nationalist hegemonic approach in historiography comprises human rights violations on the history of ethnic and religious minority groups. This also affects works of the Foundation's sustainability.
We organize projects, seminars and educational programs to foster a critical and alternative sense of history on the basis of human rights with an essential sensitivity and an emphasis on community participation. We conduct public awareness with an integrative interpretation of human rights. Also, our library and archive collections contain unique primary historical sources. We aim to provide a global access to a multiculturally equal historical data through digitizing our archives as well.
We will improve the accessibility of the collection and archives of the foundation by returning the knowledge back to use communities, and on creating ethical instructions on the use of the archived cultural heritage materials. We will be able to sustain our ongoing programs and publications with an additional program as History Academy for youth with a special focus on human rights, and minority rights in history writing and history making.
