I guess every non profit goes through tough (read crazy!) times once in a while. We had one of ours too, recently. One of our core team members quit, and I had to take significant time off from work for a lovely family event - the birth of grandchildren. Which meant that I did work from home, but obviously the quantum was lower than normal.
We also were hit by the very unexpected death of one of our Trustees on the morning of the 1st of January 2019. We were naturaly very saddened by this event. Such times take us a couple of steps back, but they also become times when we introspect and do more to strengthen ourselves. After coming to terms with this, our team with another Trustee put our heads together and have made note of a number of things to take care of with such unexpected events. It also highlights the fact that we need to work on succession planning.
We still need to add another new Trustee (we are in the process of finding and selecting one) and a team member to replace the one who has left. Both jobs are hard when our work area is so niche! But we are sure we will find the best, as always.
Meanwhile things have started picking up. We have had some good feedback from participants of our ELearning course. One was from a Surgeon - Dr Rahul - who wrote - "The PubMed course is amazingly good. Vasumathi has elaborated the search methods in very crisp details"
Then between December and now, we have delivered ten lectures, conducted two workshops and I personally mentored around 28 participants who attended MECOR - a Research Workshop conducted by a group from the American Thoracic Society - with the literature searching, for their topics. In these events, we started a system of asking participants what their "Aha moments", were, during the session. The most popular answers are "Learning about Boolean operaturs and MeSH"! For the uninitiated, these are very basic learnings for good medical literature searching. We can see that our ELearning Course is much needed for our health sciences students as well as professionals!
We are sure that in the coming months, we will share some great developments! We thank you for your donations and seek your ongoing support. We specially look forward to more Monthly Recurring Donations.
