Sharing three wonderful pieces of news, with a big thank you!

We are delighted to share three pieces of news with you. Your donations have helped us so much!

  1. A workshop for medical students in another city

In September, Nitya, a student from a medical school in Delhi, called us, saying that she wanted our workshop for students in her college, as part of a college festival. She searched online for interesting workshops and loved what she found in QMed's website. Only, the college had no budget to pay for our travel, or subsidized charges. Nitya's efforts and enthusiasm were so intense and she was so flexible in accepting anything that we offered, that we chose to do a two hour interactive session. We did not charge them anything, and I used my travel reward points for my flight tickets. The session on September 26, went off very well We had 40 medical students who lapped up the teaching, with interest.

After the event, Shipra, an alumnus of the same college, joined us for lunch. She told the students how the same program helped her do the literature searches for her thesis much faster. And she promised to mentor the students if they needed help!  I loved watching our work go round.

  2. GlobalGiving bonuses for QMed

India celebrates Daan Utsav (festival of giving) every year during the dates October 2 - 8. This year, an Indian fundraising portal - Impact Guru, joined hands with GlobalGiving. Together they selected 20 Indian non profits listed on GlobalGiving and set up pages for them to showcase projects. GlobalGiving offered bonuses of $400 and $250 to non profits that had the top two number of donors and also the top two donation amounts. QMed won $400 for number of donors and $250 for the second highest amount raised. Thank you GlobalGiving and ImpactGuru and thank you to all donors who gave. This project was for QMed guiding residents for the literature and referencing for their theses.

  3. A workshop for medical teachers in collaboration with "The Union"

About a year ago, I met Dr Ajay, who is responsible for conducting Operations Research workshops in India, on behalf of The Union - an International body working in the area of Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS. Dr Ajay mentioned that in their workshops they did not cover literature searching well enough and he wished to explore the possibilities of a collaboration with us. And in the last weekend, together we did a capacity building workshop for twenty medical teachers in the country. The teachers were a carefully chosen group, and at the end of two intense days of searching and reference management, they have all committed to practising and teaching their residents and colleagues!

Overall we feel that ever since we started this project in 2013, lots has happened. We are delighted. We have to reinforce our thank yous to every donor. Without you, this would have been very tough.
And of course there is so much more ground to cover. With our feedback, we hope you are happy too! We look forward to more support. Would you consider planning for a monthly recurring donation, so that we have steady support to do more?
