Better Futures for Our Youngest Children

By Roth Chanphalkun | Co-Director

Your support for Better Futures reaches some of the youngest children we work with. Safe care and good nutrition in the first years of life are the foundation for a child’s future, and our Baby Care program provides both.

At our main center, Baby Care provides daily care for children under five affected by severe neglect or malnutrition. Our medical team looks after them. In 2025, the main center supported 30 children.

Their meals include bor-bor, a rice porridge that is a popular breakfast for Cambodian babies. We add extra protein, usually chicken and eggs, along with minced vegetables. The children love it.

After six months in the program, children gain an average of 23% in body weight. On standard growth charts, 70% show major growth, and many move from below the 3rd percentile to the 15th.

Baby Care also runs at our Community Education Center in Phum Sam Bram (Village 35), near the port. It offers affordable daytime care for the children of working parents, so they can go to work knowing their children are safe and well cared for. In 2025, 33 children were supported there.

Thank you for giving our youngest children a healthy, safe start toward a better future.

With much gratitude,
