Challenge

A HIV positive status often has an adverse impact on socioeconomic status by stifling the infected individual's ability to work, earn a living and support their family. Lack of an adequate and balanced diet accelerates the morbidity and mortality of infected individuals since the anti-retroviral Medication that is distributed free by our government needs to be accompanied by a good diet. Food insecurity is high in our region because it is semi-arid with unreliable rainfall patterns

Solution

Funds raised will enable us to improve agribusiness and small scale business activities to provide steady source of income to 100 affected families. A revolving fund and micro health insurance component will be started to help save for health care, small loans will help businesses gradually improve, increased incomes will enable savings to increase to meet basic needs like children education, meet challenging health needs that are of an opportunistic nature

Long-Term Impact

1. Better nutrition for PLHIVs and Orphans 2. Source of Income for poor families 3. Turn the poorest of the poor into community and family developers as they save for longer term investments like children''s educations 4. Beneficiaries will be equipped with new skills and knowledge to help them solve community challenges and family difficulties especially in the areas of agri-business and entrepreneurship
