Dear friends,
Last May, our Director, along with five Aleimar volunteers, traveled to Benin for our periodic monitoring trip. This opportunity allowed us to visit all our active projects in the country and, especially, to meet our local partner and the children we support.
Upon arriving in Kpossegan, in central Benin, our volunteers visited the Bibi e Bobo nursery school. The project provides access to early childhood education for 50 children. Our volunteers met these children and reported that the planned activities at the school are being implemented effectively. Significant progress in the children's cognitive, emotional, and social development has been noted.
Following the monitoring trip, it is clear that the project is essential for ensuring these children continue to have access to a safe environment. Aleimar will conduct learning and play activities, supply daily meals, train educational staff, provide necessary materials and equipment for recreational activities, and renovate the infrastructure and essential services.
Before establishing the kindergarten, a campaign was conducted to make the space functional and welcoming. Through this fundraiser, desks, chairs, and mats were sent to Benin. Thanks to this campaign, the kindergarten now meets all the needs of the 50 children. Additionally, we provided powdered milk, which is crucial for the babies in care. In total, Aleimar distributed 1,000,000 CFA (approximately 1,650 USD) worth of powdered milk, amounting to 233 boxes. Each box lasts five days for one child.
A turning point for Aleimar's projects in Benin is the arrival of an Italian project manager on-site, who will conduct further monitoring activities. Her work will facilitate the implementation of the kindergarten project. Our goal for the coming months is to continue supporting the kindergarten children to ensure they receive the best care possible.
We would also like to inform you that work on the kindergarten extension is progressing, as you can see from the photos of the construction site.
Thank you so much for your essential support!
