A Safe Space to Grow: Education in Kpossegan

By Elisa Cappai | Junior Project Manager

Dear Donors,

In April, a group of 10 volunteers, accompanied by the Director of Aleimar, left for Benin for a monitoring trip. During the trip, recreational activities were organized for the children of the Bibì&Bibò kindergarten in Kpossegan and a mural was created.

The 2024-2025 school year concluded successfully at the Bibì&Bibò nursery school, offering 50 girls and boys aged 0-5 the opportunity to receive a quality education in a safe and stimulating environment.
During the year, significant progress was observed in children's development, particularly in three key areas:

  • Social skills: The children learned to dress themselves, share toys, express their emotional needs, and interact positively with their peers through group games and cooperative activities.
  • Language skills: There was increased participation in stories and songs, an enrichment of vocabulary, and a good understanding of simple instructions.
  • Motor skills: Thanks to a wide variety of activities, children developed both fine motor skills (cutting, gluing, drawing) and gross motor skills (running games, dance, motor skills courses, and fitness activities).

Among the main activities, several educational and creative workshops were held:

  • Visual arts: including painting, collage, and sculpture.
  • Dance and music: used to introduce children to rhythms, coordination, and body expression.

Several thematic weeks were also organized, such as Nature Week and Storytelling Week, which stimulated curiosity, creativity, and active participation.

At the end of the school year, a final celebration was held, during which the children enthusiastically performed the songs and dances they had learned. It was a moment of great joy and sharing, which demonstrated how much they had grown, not only in skills, but also in confidence and team spirit.

Thank you so much for your continued support: it is thanks to your generosity that these children can live a more peaceful and dignified childhood, despite the many challenges they have to face.
Together, we are building a more equitable future, one step at a time.
