W2W Supports Clinicians

By Pamela Secada-Sayles | Program Manager

The purpose of the W2W BIPOC Mental Health Month fundraising campaign was to support clinicians working with historically marginalized communities. Although we did not reach our financial goal, we met our goal of increasing the visibility of the mental health needs and accomplishments of the BIPOC community. Our BIPOC Mental Health Matters campaign has been shared on MCN’s social media platforms, reaching over 2.8k followers. The campaign successfully raised $1,076, with donations coming from a range of supporters. Our campaign was accompanied by a series of short videos made by our MCN BIPOC staff.  This video series highlighted MCN’s organizational commitment to practicing self-care, a commitment that is vital to overall well-being but often forgotten. Some of the practices that were shared were the butterfly hug, meditation with a Native American flute, using a gratitude journal, and meditation with a Tibetan bowl. The complete short video series is linked below. Our final activity was a blog titled “Why BIPOC Mental Health Matters” and the blog reached over 1,400 subscribers. This blog provided some historical context for Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month and included an introduction to the witnessing model, the conceptual framework that guides all the Witness-to-Witness work. The W2W framework accounts for the impact on people witnessing violence and violation and provides a roadmap to understand their situation and the steps they can take to mitigate harm.

Moving forward, we are creating new partnerships with like-minded organizations as well as strengthening current partnerships to expand our reach and continue providing these necessary resources to BIPOC clinicians and communities. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to our MCN team, donors, and supporters who made this campaign a success. Your contributions have a profound and lasting impact.
