Summary

The project will consider the feasibility of rearing Hermetia illucens (black soldier fly or BSF) using their larvae to primarily supplement fish and livestock feed . Considerations will also be given for the utilisation of the larvae castings as organic fertiliser.

Challenge

The problems are high cost of fishmeal , soya and disposal of organic waste in the community

Solution

This project will help in reducing the cost of protein used in animal feed ,black soldier fly converts organic waste into protein and fertiliser.This helps with waste management and boost the production of crops, fish and livestock farming.

Long-Term Impact

This project is a sustainable farming method.
